Load cases can be used to analyze multiple load combinations in a single
model. In a transient or dynamic analysis, the load case corresponds to a
specific time step or mode in the analysis. When examining the results of a
model in the Superview IV Results environment, you can switch between load cases, time steps or modes by
doing one of the following:
- Use the "Results Options:Load Case"
command sequence to access the "Load Case" submenu (Figure 1),
which provides options that enable you to display the load case, time step
or mode of interest.
- Use keyboard shortcut keys. Press
"Home" to view the first load case, "End" to view the
last load case, "Page Down" to switch to the next load case and
"Page Up" to switch to the previous load case.
- Use the docking toolbar for load case, time step
or mode selection (see Figure 2). The buttons enable you to select (from
left to right) the first load case, the previous load case, the middle load
case, the next load case, the last load case or a load case that you specify
in a pop-up "Load case" dialog.
Load cases and time steps can be used for various analysis types as
follows:
- In a static stress analysis with linear material models, each load case can
have a different set of forces, moments and nodal deflections defined.
Forces, moments and pressures are displayed for the current load case only.
- In a natural frequency (modal) analysis, each load case presents one
mode shape and natural frequency. The first load case is the first natural
frequency, the second load case is the second frequency and so on.
- In heat transfer, the load case corresponds to a
time step in a transient analysis. A steady-state analysis has only one load
case.
